Alpha D. Haig
1872 to February 24, 1937
Alpha D. Haig had been connected with Bloomfield State Bank in
some official capacity since its organization. He was the
first assistant cashier, then cashier and next president. He
was promoted to the position of cashier at the time his brother,
William M. Haig was promoted from the office of cashier to
presidency on the resignation of the first president of the bank,
Elmer E. Neal, and on the death of William M. Haig, the second
president of the bank, in 1924, he was promoted by the Board of
Directors to the position of president of the bank, which position
he held to the time of his death.
In each of the positions which he held with the bank, he proved to
be honest, faithful and very efficient, and the recognition by the
public served by the bank, of these qualities in him served to
attract, especially while he was president, extensive patronage to
the bank.
He was popular in the community and in fact throughout Greene
County. Not even the suspicion of dishonesty or unfair
dealing ever attached to his name among the people who knew him.
His popularity among the people who knew him was excelled by none
of his contemporaries. His loss to his family and to the
community was irreparable and at the time was difficult to fill
his place in the bank with so valuable substitute.
He was fortunate in companionship of a very estimable family
consisting of his wife and two daughters who survived him.
